A Youth Basketball Coaching
Guide
Coaching children should be a fun experience for everyone, for you, for the parents, and most of all the children. We cover teaching attitudes and methods, keeping in mind these are children. It's a game for them and not the adults. Winning isn't everything, but learning to play well and wanting to win is. Children from the first grade through eighth grade are broken into four categories. In each category we discuss
the players needs and abilities, what they are capable of in both the
physical and emotional sense and their limitations. We define the coach's
role, parent's role and the player's role.
